Diamonds are timeless. Revered and sought after for centuries there is nothing quite like a sparkling diamond to capture one’s attention. We feel the same and always feel that they make the perfect companions for our gems. What would a fine piece of jewellery be without glittering fine diamonds to frame our perfect gems?!
The 4 C’s… and more
When purchasing a diamond one should always consider the 4C’s… but never forget to look beyond the theoretical and to judge the stone by its true visual presence.
The 4C’s are:
CUT – The shape, proportions and symmetry of a diamond. The shape (round, princess, radiant, etc.) describes a diamond's form, primarily as viewed from above. All diamond shapes have different attributes, but overall the beauty of the individual shapes is a matter of personal taste. The cut of a diamond determines its brilliance. Put simply, the better a diamond is cut, the more sparkle it will have.
COLOUR – A diamond's colour grade actually refers to the lack of colour. In other words, diamonds that are white, containing little or no colour, receive higher quality grades than those with visible colour.
CLARITY - Almost all diamonds have tiny imperfections. Diamonds with few or no imperfections receive the highest clarity grades.
CARAT - A measure of a diamond's weight. The higher the carat weight, the more rare and valuable it is.
CERTIFICATION – Independent test and opinion given in the form of a certificate by an unbiased independent gem laboratory.
LIFE – While many diamonds, as well as gemstones, are sold based on their “paper” credentials i.e. the certificated opinion of its various elements, TIVON believes that is important to look beyond the theoretical and to look at the actual physical attributes of the gem i.e. THE LIFE THE STONE EXUDES!
